City of Orlando Breaks Ground on Church Street
Orlando officials joined Mayor Buddy Dyer to launch the first phase of the Church Street Festival Street project, which will reshape the corridor between Garland Avenue and Magnolia Avenue into a flexible space for dining, events, and pedestrian activity. The work is part of a broader $220 million investment under the DTO Action Plan to strengthen downtown infrastructure, with this first phase expected to wrap by winter 2027. Orlando to Host Olympic Q-Series Stop in 2028
The International Olympic Committee has confirmed that Orlando will close out the Olympic Q-Series from June 8 to 11, 2028, hosting flag football, beach volleyball, climbing, and park skateboarding as part of the qualification path to the LA28 Games. Camping World Stadium will host the competition, marking another milestone in the city's sports tourism history. This last stop, secured by the Greater Orlando Sports Commission, gives athletes a final chance to secure direct qualification spots. Learn more here.
