AdventHealth Orlando Welcomes New CEO Abel Biri
Abel Biri has been named CEO of AdventHealth Orlando, one of the nation’s largest non-profit hospital campuses, where he will also provide executive oversight of AdventHealth for Children. With nearly 30 years in health care, Biri previously led AdventHealth Waterman, where he expanded patient services, launched the region’s first robotic surgery program, and opened a children’s emergency department. He now returns to Orlando to lead the hospital through a time of growth and change in Central Florida’s health care landscape. Congratulations to Abel on this new role! Downtown Development Board Opens Special Event Grants for Nonprofits
Calling all event organizers! The Downtown Development Board’s Special Event Grants Program applications are now open. This program supports nonprofit events that draw visitors downtown, boost local businesses, and celebrate arts and culture. SunRail Offers Free Rides for July 4 Events
SunRail will run free service on Friday, July 4, from 1 PM to 11:30 PM for downtown Orlando’s Fireworks at the Fountain and the FIFA Club World Cup quarterfinal at Camping World Stadium. Church Street Station will serve as the main stop for both events, with free shuttles to the stadium. Be sure to grab your FIFA tickets today!
History Alive: Famous Floridians
On Saturday, July 5, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Orange County Regional History Center is hosting a family-friendly event celebrating famous Central Floridians Zora Neale Hurston, Bob Ross, and astronaut John Young. Guests can enjoy hands-on activities like typing poetry on a vintage typewriter, creating Bob Ross-inspired art, and testing zero-gravity skills with NASA-style training boxes. Bring the family to Orlando Public Library’s Family Game Day on Sunday, July 20, from 2–4 p.m. July's featured game is Dungeon Mayhem: Monster Madness, a playful, D&D-inspired card game where monsters battle for victory.
