Pulse Remembrance Day
In remembrance of the Pulse tragedy on June 12, 2016, the City of Orlando is displaying the Prayer Ribbon Memorial and holding the Remembrance Day Blood Drive TODAY from 8am to 6pm at City Hall Plaza. The memorial, which is on display now through June 13, honors the strength and resilience of the Orlando community. Additionally, the City is hosting the 2025 Pulse Remembrance Ceremony at 5pm today which will include the reading of the 49 angels, the tolling of 49 bells, remarks from family members and survivors, and musical and cultural performances, located at First United Methodist Church.
UCF Proposes New Research Building and Entrepreneurship Exchange
The University of Central Florida is proposing an innovation district as part of its long-term strategy, highlighted by two major projects seeking state funding. These include a $114.6 million Research II building, which would significantly expand lab space for advanced research and attract top-tier faculty. Also planned is a $76.9 million Workforce Entrepreneurship Resource eXchange (WERX) building, designed to foster collaboration with businesses through teaching labs, maker spaces, and an entrepreneur incubator. Downtown Orlando's New Mural: "Floral Odyssey"
Yesterday afternoon, Mayor Buddy, City District Orlando Main Street, Launch That, and the City of Orlando's Community Redevelopment Agency unveiled "Floral Odyssey," a vibrant new mural located at 1 S Orange Ave. Painted by artists Peterson Guerrier and Chris Jones, the mural represents the dreams we have as children - imagining futures as astronauts, doctors, artists, etc. But as we grow, those dreams can dim beneath the weight of everyday life. "Floral Odyssey" invites everyone to rediscover that sense of wonder and ask again: What do you want to be?
