Orlando City SC Win the 2022 U.S. Open Cup ChampionsCongratulations Orlando City Soccer Club for winning the 107th Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup! Following a 3-0 victory in front of a sold out Exploria Stadium, Orlando City SC celebrated at City Hall in downtown Orlando on Thursday afternoon, hosted by former Lions goalkeeper Miguel Gallardo along with City's sideline reporter Gabrielle Amado. The event included speeches from Mayor Buddy Dyer, Chairman Mark Wilf, and Head Coach Oscar Pareja, with the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup trophy in full display. Check out the Champions Collection here.Peace and Justice Institute at Valencia College Celebrates Global Peace WeekEach September, the Peace and Justice Institute (PJI) at Valencia College celebrates International Day of Peace, followed by Global Peace Week festivities and events, including peace education workshops, daily meditation practices, guest speakers, and free film screenings in partnership with the Global Peace Film Festival. PJI will kick off its Global Peace Week celebration on September 21 by partnering with the Global Peace Film Festival to participate in the United Nations’ International Peace Day. The mission of “Peace Day” is to have at least one non-violent, cease-fire day throughout the world. This year’s U.N. Peace Day celebration will be held at the Winter Park Public Library, where PJI will screen the film, “Mission: JOY – Finding Happiness in Troubled Times." The free film screening begins at 6 p.m., followed by the creation of a human peace sign at 8 p.m. Click here for the full schedule of events, which are all free and open to the public.
