Florida Prize in Contemporary Art
The Florida Prize in Contemporary Art is organized by the Orlando Museum of Art (OM°A) to bring new recognition to the State’s most progressive artists. Each year, the OM°A surveys artists working throughout the State before inviting ten to participate, with one receiving a $20,000 monetary award.  This year's prize recipient is Robert Rivers and the People's Choice recipient is Matthew Cornell. Artists range from emerging to mid-career, often with distinguished records of exhibitions and awards that reflect recognition at national and international levels. In all cases, they are artists who are engaged in exploring significant ideas of art and culture in original and visually exciting ways.

DID YOU KNOW?
Downtown Parklets
Given the success of the parklet program and following other programs nation-wide, the City of Orlando and Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) have repositioned the parklet implementation to a 3-year program. Parklets allow downtown businesses to expand their retail sales and restaurant seating operations into adjacent on-street public parking spaces. As part of this transition, additional reviews and permitting procedures will be added, including a minor Right-of-Way Encroachment Agreement and approval criteria. Existing and new CRA businesses interested in applying for the parklet program will be able to apply starting August 15. For any inquiries, please contact Mary-Stewart Droege, DDB/CRA Project Manager, at mary-stewart.droege@downtownorlando.com.
