The Downtown Development Board Celebrates 50 Years
Last week, the City of Orlando’s Downtown Development Board (DDB) kicked off their 50th anniversary with Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and City Commissioners at an event to reveal downtown Orlando's newest, larger-than-life art sculpture. The sculpture creates another iconic point of interest for residents and visitors. The installation was designed to celebrate downtown and serve as a “selfie-inducing” moment to share on social media.

Visit the sculpture and park for free! Through Sunday, June 13, you can continue to enjoy complimentary parking on-street using ParkMobile code: ParkDTO (maximum of 4 uses) or inside specific City of Orlando garages using Park DTO validation stickers. After Sunday, June 13, the ParkDTO code and validation stickers will no longer be accepted.

OCLS WINS BIG
The Orange County Library Won Multiple Awards Last Week
Orange County Library System (OCLS) has been named the 2021 Library of the Year by the Florida Library Association, a statewide organization that promotes excellence in Florida libraries. The honor recognizes OCLS and its staff for maintaining outstanding library services during the pandemic by quickly converting hundreds of programs to a virtual format and finding a path to safely reopen facilities with care, so customers had access to vital library resources during a critical time.

The award is one of four that the Florida Library Association will present to OCLS at the annual Florida Library Association conference in Daytona on May 20. Library Director/CEO Mary Anne Hodelalso received the Lifetime Achievement Award. The library also received the Maria Chavez Hernandez “Libraries Change Peoples’ Lives” award for their ESOL programs, and the Betty Davis Miller Youth Services Award – Children for their Virtual Field Trips.
