As you walk, bike or drive through Downtown Orlando these days you will notice a lot of changes in the works. New buildings are going up all over, some it seems overnight. Here is the scoop on the construction players are that are making big things happen in DTO.
If You Build It, They Will Come.
Construction is booming, and a number of companies are literally building and reshaping the future of Downtown Orlando. Balfour Beaty has made its mark on the Downtown skyline with the award winning LEED Silver certified Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts as well as the 420 East building in Thornton Park (520 coming soon!). Meanwhile, Austin Commercial is going vertical with the SunTrust Plaza building at Church Street Station, the first high-rise office building constructed in downtown Orlando in nearly a decade! Then there’s Batson-Cook Construction who will be working on Union West in Creative Village that will house 600 students along with Valencia College’s Walt Disney School of Culinary Arts and Hospitality. Hanson Construction‘s work can be seen in the Radixx office space on Orange Avenue as well as the Teeps new Downtown location at Orange and Colonial. High Mark Companies has over 60 years in construction of commercial projects in and around Orlando and Coastal Construction, a Miami-based company, recently opened an office Downtown. And of course, where would any of these projects be without materials and supplies? CEMEX has the hook-up on concrete and more, and recently moved their local HQ to Downtown.
Goodnight, goodnight construction site.
